Solution

The acceleration of block of mass $m_{1}$ is
$a = \frac{m_{1}}{m_{1} + m_{2}} g = 5 m / s^{2}$
From FBD of block $m_{1}$
$m_{1} g - T = m_{1} a$
$\Rightarrow T = m_{1} (g - a) = 1 \times 5 = 5 N$
