Solution

Current gain of transistor is
where $∆ i_{C}$ is change in collector current, and $∆ i_{E}$ is change in emitter current. $Given α = 0.96 . ∆ i_{E} = 7.2, ∆ i_{C} = 0.96 \times 7.2 = 6.91 mA Also ∆ i_{E} = ∆ i_{C} + ∆ i_{B} ∴ ∆ i_{B} = ∆ i_{E} + ∆ i_{C} = 7.2 - 6.91 = 0.29 mA$
