Solution

The distance travelled by the block on the rough surface can be calculated from energy conservation.
$K_{i} + U_{i} = K_{f} + U_{f} + W_{F}$
where, W_f = work done by friction.
$\Rightarrow 0 + m g h = 0 + 0 + μ m g s \Rightarrow s = \frac{h}{μ} = \frac{1}{0.8} = 1.25 m$

The bllock stops at distance 1.25 m from A.
