Solution

Given that $v = \sqrt{3 x + 16}$
$\Rightarrow v^{2} = 3 x + 16$
$\Rightarrow v^{2} - 16 = 3 x ......... (1)$
Comparing this equation with equation of motion $v^{2} - u^{2} = 2 a s$
$\begin{array}{l} ∴ u^{2} = 16 \\ ∴\Rightarrow u = \sqrt{16} \\ = 4 m / s \end{array}$
