Shift due to one plate Δx1=βλμ11

Shift due to another path Δx2=βλμ21t

Net shift Δx=Δx2Δx1=βλμ2μ1t          …(i)

Also it is given that   x=5β                              …(ii)

Hence    5β=βλμ1μ2t

t=5λμ1μ2=5×4800×1010(1.71.4)

=8×106m=8μm
