Magnetic dipole - Moving charges and magnetism
Question

An electron is revolving in a circular orbit of radius r in a hydrogen atom. The angular momentum of the electron is L. The dipole moment associated with it is

Moderate
Solution

Magnetic moment of revolving electron,  M=iA=(e2πrV)×(πr2)=eVr2…………….(1)
But, Angular Momentum = L = mVr …………….(2)

Dividing (1) and (2)

                        ML=eV2rmVr=e2m M=e2mL
