Solution

The combination of capacitors should be as shown in the figure,
$\begin{array}{l} C_{E} = \frac{c}{4} \times 8 = 2 c = 2 \times 8 mF \\ C_{E} = 16 mF \\ Also V_{A} - V_{B} = 4 \times 250 v \\ = 1000 volt \end{array}$
Hence total number of capacitors required $= 8 \times 4 = 32$
