${TV}^{γ - 1} = constant \Rightarrow T \propto V^{1 - γ}$
According to question T $\propto V^{\frac{- 1}{2}}$
Hence $1 - γ = - \frac{1}{2} \Rightarrow γ = \frac{3}{2} = 1.5$
