Solution

In steady state no current will pass through the capacitor. The current flowing in the circuit is shown in fig
From fig
$\begin{array}{l} i = \frac{2 V - V}{R + 2 R} = \frac{V}{3 R} \\ V_{C} - V_{A} = iR + V = \frac{V}{3} + V = \frac{4 V}{3} \end{array}$
Further, $V_{C} - V_{A} = (V_{C} - V_{B}) + (V_{B} - V_{A})$
$\begin{array}{l} ∴ V_{C} - V_{B} = (V_{C} - V_{A}) - (V_{B} - V_{A}) \\ = \frac{4 V}{3} - V = \frac{V}{3} \end{array}$
So, the potential drop across the capacitor will be V / 3.
