A glass container encloses a gas at a pressure of $8 \times 10^{5} P a$ and 300K temperature. The container walls can bear a maximum pressure of $10^{6} P a$ . If the temperature of container is gradually increased, temperature at which the container will break is $(N \times 125) K$ . Find N.

Solution

The process is isochoric.
Hence, $\frac{P_{1}}{T_{1}} = \frac{P_{2}}{T_{2}}$
$\begin{array}{l} \Rightarrow \frac{8 \times 10^{5}}{300} = \frac{10^{6}}{T_{2}} \\ \Rightarrow T_{2} = \frac{10^{6}}{(8 \times 10^{5})} (300) = 375 K \end{array}$
