A helicopter is ascending vertically with a speed of 8.0 ms-1. At a height of 12 m above the earth, a package is dropped from a window. How much time does it take for the package to reach the ground ?

Initial velocity of package= 8m/s time taken to reach the height 12m again: 0.8+0.8=1.6 sec velocity at height 12m= 8m/s Thus time taken to reach ground: v2- u2= 2g×12  v2= 240 + 64 v=304 v= 8 + gt t= 0.93 Thus total time= 1.6+0.93= 2.53s
