A 50 Hz a.c. current of crest value 1 A flows through the primary of a transformer. If the mutual inductance between the primary and secondary be 1.5 H, the crest voltage induced in the secondary is

Solution

The current changes from 1 amp to - 1 amp. Hence
di = 1-(-1) = 2amp.
dt = (1/ 100)s and M = 1.5H
$∴ e = M \frac{di}{dt} = 1 \cdot 5 \times (\frac{2}{(1 / 100)})$
= 7.5 x 2 x 100 = 300 V
