If a bar magnet of pole strength 'm' and magnetic moment 'M' is cut equally 5 parts parallel to its axis and 4 parts perpendicular to its axis then the pole strength and magnetic moment of each piece are respectively

Solution

( $∵$ M = 2lm, M' = 2l ' m')
five parts $m' = \frac{m}{5}$ (parallel)
Four parts $2 l' = \frac{2 l}{4}$ (perpendicular) ;
$M' = \frac{m}{5} \frac{2 l}{4}$
$M' = \frac{M}{20}$
