If four forces act at a point ‘O’ as shown in the figure in a plane and if O is in equilibrium then the value of 'θ' & ‘P’ are

Solution

As 'O' is in equilibrium, the net force is zero, along x-axis :
10 + 10√2 cos45 = P sinθ .............(1)
Along y-axis 10 + P cosθ = 10√2 sin45.................(2)
From (2) cosθ = 0 ⇒ θ = 90⁰ and P = 20 N
