If the particle is moving along a straight line given by the relation x = 2 - 3t + 4 $t^{3}$ where x is in cms., and t in sec. Its average velocity during the third sec is ?

Solution

x = 2 - 3t + 4 $t^{3}$
t = 2 ⇒ $x_{2}$ = 2 - 6 + 32 = 28m
t = 3 ⇒ $x_{3}$ = 2 - 9 + 108 = 101m

$v_{a v g} = \frac{x_{3} - x_{2}}{3 - 2} = \frac{101 - 28}{1} = 73 c m / s$
