Thermal expansion
Question

A length of 2m is measured using a metal tape at 100C. It is calibrated at a temperature 300C. The actual length is (α = 1 x 10-4/C0)

Easy
Solution

Thermal contraction of 2m length = \large \Delta l=\alpha l(t_2-t_1)=10^{-4}(2)(30-10)=0.004m
Actual length = 2 - (0.004) = 1.996m
