A man pulls himself up the 30^oincline by the method shown in the figure. If the combined mass of the man and cart is 100 kg, determine the acceleration of the cart if the man exerts a pull of 250 N on the rope. Neglect all friction and the mass of the rope, pulleys, and wheels.

Solution

$\begin{array}{l} a = \frac{3 T - m g \sin θ}{m} \\ = \frac{3 \times 250 - 100 \times 10 \times \sin 30^{\circ}}{100} = 2.5 {ms}^{- 2} \end{array}$
