A paratrooper is dropped from an airplane. After some time his parachute opens and he reaches the ground with almost zero speed. This speed of fall (v) versus time (t) graph will look like:

Initial falling velocity (vertical ) is zero, till the parachute opens there is constant acceleration in downward direction and as the parachute opens there is constant deceleration and finally velocity becomes zero.
