Rectilinear Motion

Question

A particle is moving on x-axis such that its position varies with time(t) asx=(t2)(t4) : , where ‘t’ is in second and x is in meter. Let Sab  denotes the distances travelled by the particle in the time intervalt = a to t = b . Then find the ratio of  magnitudes S12S34=3  .

Difficult
Solution

x= (t-2) (t-4)x=t2-6t+8 v=dxdt=2t-6  and at t=0 velocity=  u=-6 ms-1 a=dvdt= 2 ms-2 so  s12=s2= u +a(n-12)=-6+22-12=-3 m s34=-6+2(4-12)=1m s12s34=3
