A particle is projected vertically upward from ground with a velocity of 40 m/s. Then average speed of the particle is

Solution

Maximum height attained, $H = \frac{u^{2}}{2 g} = \frac{40^{2}}{2 \times 10} = 80 m$
Time of flight $T = \frac{2 u}{g} = \frac{2 \times 40}{10} = 8 s$
$∴$ Average speed = $\frac{2 H}{T} = \frac{2 \times 80}{8} = 20 m / s$
