Solution

By equation of continuity
$V^{1} \times π r^{2} = V \times π R^{2}$
$\Rightarrow V^{1} = V {(\frac{R}{r})}^{2} = 0.5 {(\frac{5}{1})}^{2} m / s = 12.5 m / s$
