A plane electromagnetic wave of frequency 25 GHz is propagating in vacuum along the z-direction. At a particular point in space and time, the magnetic field is given by $\vec{B} {=5x10}^{-8} \hat{j} T$ . The corresponding electric field $\vec{E}$ is (speed of light $c = 3 x 10^{8} m s^{- 1}$ )

Solution

$W e k n o w, |\vec{E}| = |\vec{B}| C = 5 \times 10^{- 8} \times 3 \times 10^{8} = 15 V / m$
direction of wave propagation is along z axis and
direction of magnetic field is along y axis,
Therefore, direction of electric field is along x axis
$∴ \vec{E} = 15 \overset{\land}{i} V / m$
