A plane electromagnetic wave of frequency 20 MHz travels in free space along the x-direction. At a particular point in a space and time the magnetic field vector is $\vec{B} = 3 \times 10^{- 8} T \overset{\land}{k}$ . Calculate electric field vector $(\vec{E})$ at this point

Solution

Step no 1 : Calculate the magnitude of electric field
$W e k n o w, E = B \times c \Rightarrow E = 3 \times 10^{- 8} \times 3 \times 10^{8} \Rightarrow E = 9 \frac{V}{m}$
Step no :2 As $\bar{B}$ is along z- direction and wave is travelling along x-direction therefore $\vec{E}$ is along y-direction
$\vec{E} = 9 \frac{V}{m} \hat{j}$
