Solution

This problem can be solved by applying the theorem of
impulse- momentum, i. e.,
$| F \times Δt | =∣ change in momentum ∣ F \times 0 \cdot 1 = |p_{f} - p_{i}| Hero p_{i} = {mv}_{i} = 0 \cdot 15 \times 20 = 3 and p_{f} = 0 (ball stops after catching) ∴ F \times 0 \cdot 1 = | 0 - 3 | = 3 F = 30 N$
