Solution

Impulse is imparted due to change in perpendicular components of momentum of ball,
$J = Δ p = m v_{f} - m v_{i}$
$= m v \cos 60 ° - (- m v \cos 60 °)$
$= 2 m v \cos 60 ° = 2 m v \times \frac{1}{2} = m v$
