A scooter starts from rest have an acceleration of 1 ms-2 while a car 150 m behind it starts from rest with an acceleration of 2 ms-2. After how much time, the car catches up with the scooter?      [BHU 2012]

Let after time t, car catches the scooter and the distance travelled by scooter in time t,

                                 x=12×(1)×t2=t22                                  …(i)

The distance travelled by car in time t

                                  x+150=12×2×t2=t2                            …(ii)

Solving Eqs. (i) and (ii), we get

                     t = 300 s
