If Q is the heat supplied to a body of mass m and specific heat s and if Δt be the rise in temperature, then Q = ms Δt
$Δt = \frac{Q}{ms}$
So the quantity 'ms' is responsible for rise in temperature of a substance. This quantity is called thermal capacity.
