Solution

Let V =volume of oxygen in mixture, and 4 V = volume of hydrogen in mixture the density of mixture d _m is given by $y_{m} = \frac{4 V \times 2 + V \times 32}{5 V} = 8_{}$ density of mixture is four times that of hydrogen
Now $V \propto (1 / d)^{1 / 2}$
$V_{1} \sqrt{M_{1}} = V_{2} \sqrt{M_{2}} 1270 \sqrt{2} = V_{2} \sqrt{8}$
$Velocity of mixture = 1270 / (4)^{1 / 2} = 635 m / s$
