A thin copper rod of length 1.5 m lies in xy plane parallel to y-axis. It starts moving with a constant velocity $\vec{V} = (3 \hat{i} + 4 \hat{j}) m / s$ . A uniform magnetic field $\vec{B} = (\hat{i} - \hat{j} + \hat{k}) T$ exists in that region. Then induced potential difference between the ends of the rod is

Solution

Induced potential difference $ε = (\vec{V} \times \vec{B}) . \vec{l}$
$∴ ε = |[(3 \hat{i} + 4 \hat{j}) \times (\hat{i} - \hat{j} + \hat{k})] . (1 .5 \hat{j})| volt$
= 4.5 volt
