A thin wire AOB is bent at point O and kept in a vertical position. A soap film is formed between a slider PRSQ and the bent wire. Initially the slider PRSQ is in equilibrium in the position shown. Now the slider is slightly pulled downward and released. Then after release

Solution

At any instant of time after release, net vertically upward unbalanced force acting on the slider is
$F_{net} = T (R_{1} S_{1} - RS) = T . x . \tan \frac{θ}{2}$
Since $F_{net} \propto x$ and opposite to the displacement x from equilibrium position, subsequent motion of the slider will be simple harmonic.
