Gravitaional potential energy
Question

Two artificial satellites A and B of same mass are revolving round the earth at heights h1 and h2 in circular orbits. If h2< h1, the satellite possessing greater K.E. is

Easy
Solution

Speed of a satellite moving in circular orbit is given by \large V=\sqrt{\frac{GM}{r}}

Where r = Radius of orbit = R + h

\large \therefore K.E.=\frac12mV^2=\frac{GMm}{2r}=\frac{GMm}{2(R+h)}

So if  ' h ' is less , K.E. will be more.

Hence option  - (2) is correct.
