Solution

$P_{1} = \frac{V^{2}}{R_{1}} and P_{2} = \frac{V^{2}}{R_{2}}$
In series. R = R₁ +R₂
$∴ P = \frac{V^{2}}{(R_{1} + R_{2})} = \frac{V^{2}}{(\frac{V^{2}}{P_{1}}) + (\frac{V^{2}}{P_{2}})}$
$= \frac{P_{1} P_{2}}{P_{1} + P_{2}}$
