Two capacitors C₁, and C₂, are charged to 120 V and 200 V respectively. It is found that by connecting them together the potential on each one can be made zero.

Solution

$\begin{array}{l} 120 C_{1} = 200 C_{2} (∵ Q = CV) \\ 6 C_{1} = 10 C_{2} \\ 3 C_{1} = 5 C_{2} \end{array}$
