Solution

Total angular momentum about O is given as
$L = L_{1} + L_{2} = m_{1} v_{1} r_{1} + m_{2} v_{2} r_{2}$
$= - 6.5 \times 2.2 \times 1.5 + 3.1 \times 3.6 \times 2.8$
$= - 21.45 + 31.248 = 9.8 kg \cdot m^{2} s^{- 1}$
