Two perfectly elastic objects and of identical mass are moving with velocities 15 m/s and 10 m/s respectively, collide along the direction of line ioining
them. Their velocities after collision are respectively

Solution

IN a perfectly elastic collision if the colliding bodies or particles have equal masses then after collision they will exchange their velocities.
Let m be the identical mass of two objects ,1 and B we have
$15 m + 10 m = {mv}_{1} + {mv}_{2} 25 = v_{1} + v_{2} In elastic collision, \frac{v_{2} - v_{1}}{u_{1} - u_{2}} = 1 or \frac{v_{2} - v_{1}}{15 - 10} = 1 ∴ v_{2} - v_{1} = 5 Solving eqs . (1) and [2), we 8 et V_{2} = 15 m / s and v_{1} = 10 m / s$
