Two positively charged particles each of mass 1.7 x 10^-27 kg having charge of 1.6 x 10^-19 C are placed at separation r. Calculate r (in cm ), to the nearest integer if each one experiences a repulsive force equal to its weight. (Take g = 10 ms^-2).

$mg = \frac{q^{2}}{4 {πε}_{0} r^{2}} \Rightarrow 1 .7 \times 10^{- 27} \times 10 = \frac{9 \times 10^{9} \times {(1 .6 \times 10^{- 19})}^{2}}{r^{2}} \Rightarrow r^{2} = \frac{9 \times 10^{9} \times {(1 .6 \times 10^{- 19})}^{2}}{1 .7 \times 10^{- 26}} \begin{array}{l} \Rightarrow r = 0 .116 m \\ \Rightarrow r = 11 .6 cm ≅ 12 cm \end{array}$
