Question

Velocity v of a particle moving along positive x axis as a function of time is given by v = 2t m/s. Initially the particle is to the right of the origin and 2 m away from it. Find the displacement of the particle after first 3 s.

Solution

Final distance of the particle from the origin = 2+ $\int_{0}^{3} 2 t d t = (2 + 9) m = 11 m$ .So displacement = final position - initial position = (11-2) m = 9 m
