Question

The volume of a given mass of a gas at 27 oC, I atm is l00cc. What will be its volume at 3270C?

Easy
Solution

We have to convert the given temperatures in kelvin. If pressure of a given mass of the gas is kept constant then V T

  VT = constant   [V = Volume of gas]                                      [ Temperature of gas ]

 V1T1 = V2T2  V2 = V1 (T2T1)

Here we must convert the given temperature in kelvin.

T1 = 273 + 27 = 300 K

T2 = 273+327 = 600 K

But V1 = 100 cc

V2= V1(600300)  V2 = 2V1

  V2 = 2×100 = 200cc
