Question

Water drops fall at regular intervals from a tap which is 5m above the ground. The third drop is leaving the tap at the instant, the first drop touches the ground. How far above the ground is the second drop at that instant ?

Easy
Solution

As third drop is starting and 1st drop is touching the ground, two drops have fallen. If interval is ‘x’ sec. for the first drop distance travelled.
12g(2x)2=5
for the second drop=12gx2=54=1.25m
height from the ground 5 -1.25 = 3.75 m.
