Photo Electric Effect
Question

When the light of frequency 2ϑ0 (where ϑ0 is threshold frequency), is incident on a metal plate, the maximum velocity of electrons emitted is v1. When the frequency of the incident radiation is increased to 5ϑ0, the maximum velocity of electrons emitted from the same plate is v2. The ratio of v1 to v2 is

Easy
Solution

According to the Einstein's photoelectric equation, E=W0+12mv2

When frequency of incident light is 2ϑ0

h2ϑ0=hϑ0+12mv12hϑ0=12mv12        ...........(i)

When frequency of incident light is 5ϑ0

h5ϑ0=hϑ0+12mv224hϑ0=12mv22             ........(ii)

Dividing (i) by (ii),

14=v12v22 or v1v2=12
