70 per cent of ${CO}_{2}$ is transported as bicarbonate ions. About 7 per cent of ${CO}_{2}$ is carried in a dissolved state through plasma. About 20-25 per cent of ${CO}_{2}$ is carried by haemoglobin as carbamino-haemoglobin.
