A | B | |
1. | X – Pseudocoelom Y – Enterocoelom | Ascaris, Ancylostoma Nereis, Fasciola |
2. | X – Enterocoelom Y – Pseudocoelom | Asterias, Balanoglossus Ascaris, Ancylostoma |
3. | X – Acoelomate Y – Pseudocoelom | Fasciola, Taenia Nereis, Ascaris |
4. | X –Schizocoelom Y – Pseudocoelom | Nereis, Taenia Ascaris, Fasciola |
Enterocoelom is formed by the evagination (out-pouching) of mesoderm from the wall of archenteron. These pouches get pinched off from the archenteron into the blastocoel and fuse with one another. E.g., Asterias (Echinodermata), Balanoglossus (Hemichordata)
In some animals, the body cavity is not lined by mesoderm, instead, the mesoderm is present as scattered pouches in between the ectoderm and endoderm. Such a body cavity is called pseudocoelom and the animals possessing them are called pseudocoelomates, e.g., Ascaris, Ancylostoma (Aschelminthes).
