Detailed Solution
The hypothalamus functions as the body’s thermostat, which senses body temperature so that it is maintained at a desired setpoint. If the temperature of blood flowing through the hypothalamus is above normal, the hypothalamus directs the autonomic nervous system to stimulate activities that promote heat loss. When blood temperature is below normal, by contrast, the hypothalamus generates impulses that promote heat production and retention. The hypothalamus contains a number of centres which control body temperature, urge for eating and drinking. It is involved in regulation of emotional and behavioral patterns.Cerebral cortex (Frontal lobe) is mostly involved in short term memory. It also is in charge of decision making. Cerebellum takes control of coordination during locomotion.
