Interaction between the population of two different species can be harmful, beneficial or neutral to one of the species or to both.

Commensalism is the interaction between two species where one is benefitted whereas other is neither harmed nor benefitted. Mutualism refers to those species interactions where both the species are benefited from the association and are dependent on each other for survival. In predation, only one species that is the predator is benefitted and the predator kills the prey. Amensalism is where one specie is harmed and the other remains unaffected.
