Sickle cell anaemia is

A classical example of point mutation is sickle cell anemia. A point mutation is a change of a single base pair in DNA.It is an autosomal recessive trait.It is caused due to substitution of glutamic acid by valine.It is characterised by elongated, enucleated sickle like RBCs.
