A terrestrial turtle excretes uric acid while an aquatic turtle excretes both urea and ammonia. What may be the underlying reason?

Terrestrial adaptation necessitated the production of lesser toxic nitrogenous wastes like uric acid for conservation of water. In terms of toxicity and requirement of water for excretion; ammonia > urea > uric acid.
