Detailed Solution
Ecdysis (moulting) is the shedding of exoskeleton. It occurs in arthropods (e.g., Periplaneta), lizards (e.g., Hemidactylus) and snakes (Bungarus). The skin of crocodiles (e.g., Crocodylus) is covered with non-overlapping scales composed of the protein keratin and often studded with bony plates called scutes. The scales are shed individually, so crocodilians do not moult.
