### Solution:

Preparation of amines by reduction of nitro compounds can be done either by catalytic hydrogenation or a metal (tin, neon, zinc) and an acid(HCl) can be used to carry out teh reduction and teh product will be acidic, if acidic conditions are employed which can be converted into basic by adding a base.

Acetamide is treated with $\mathrm{NaOH}+{\mathrm{Br}}_{2}$ to give methyl amine and reaction is called hoffmann bromamide reaction.

${\mathrm{CH}}_{3}{\mathrm{CONH}}_{2}\stackrel{{\mathrm{Br}}_{2},\mathrm{NaOH}}{⟶}{\mathrm{CH}}_{3}{\mathrm{NH}}_{2}.$
