    Oil is insoluble in water. We already know that everything is made up of molecules. so, the molecules of oil are bigger than that of water. Whereas the molecules of water are polar which means positively charged at one end and negatively charged at another but oil has non-polar molecules. Therefore they do not mix together. Polar molecules dissolve in polar solvents and non-polar molecules dissolve in non-polar solvents. As far as sugar, salt, and lemon juice are concerned they have polar molecules therefore they dissolve in water
