FAQs

How many points do I need to qualify for JEE Main 2022?

JEE Main qualifying marks are determined by a variety of variables, including computations and normalisation. Following the exam, the qualifying cutoff will be announced.

What is the cut-off score for JEE Mains 2022?

The cut-off score for JEE Mains 2022 varies based on several factors, including the difficulty level of the exam, the number of candidates, and the category of the student. For JEE Mains 2022, the general category cut-off was around 88.4 marks, while the cut-off for OBC-NCL, SC, and ST categories was lower, ranging from 70 to 50 marks. It’s important to note that the cut-off also depends on whether a student is appearing for JEE Mains in the February, March, April, or May session, as the scores from all sessions are considered for the final ranking. The JEE Mains cut-off determines the eligibility for JEE Advanced and also serves as a basis for admission to various NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs.

Is 77 a good score in JEE Mains?

A score of 77 in JEE Mains is considered moderate. While it may not guarantee a seat in the top-tier NITs or IITs, it can still offer opportunities for admission to some of the less competitive branches in NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs, particularly for candidates from reserved categories. The final outcome largely depends on the percentile, category, and specific preferences for branch and college. If you're aiming for top NITs or IITs, a higher score would be more beneficial. However, a 77 can still be an encouraging score, particularly if you plan to improve in subsequent attempts or if you belong to a reserved category.

Is 75 percentile good in JEE Mains?

A 75 percentile in JEE Mains is considered decent but not exceptional. While it is a passable score, it may not secure admission to the more sought-after branches at top NITs or IITs. However, depending on the category, a 75 percentile can still help you get a seat in certain NITs or GFTIs in less competitive branches. Additionally, students with a 75 percentile should focus on improving their scores in JEE Advanced or consider alternative options like state engineering colleges or private institutions. For candidates from reserved categories, 75 percentile might improve their chances of getting into colleges with lower cut-offs.
